In this phase, we’ll bring all prior plans to fruition. For a more detailed look into the steps we take when renovating your shower.

Any obstacles or unforeseen expenses that arise in this period will be covered fully by Goldy Bathrooms. We’ll never ask for a dollar more than you signed for in your initial quotation. Based on previous projects, shower renovations can take between 3-4 weeks.

What will it cost to renovate my shower?

This all depends on the size and scope of your project. Typically, our bathroom renovations and full remodels range between $15,500 and $27,000 (Incl. GST). These figures have been calculated based on our last 70 successful projects. Keep in mind that these are often much larger projects than a shower renovation—so expect a quote closer to $10,000. How long will it take to renovate my shower?

Although the renovation itself doesn’t take too long, we can not afford to cut any corners. The process of preparing, waterproofing and waiting for the space to be sealed can take several days in itself, but if not done properly end up being very costly down the road. Based on our previous projects, you can expect your shower renovation to be complete within 2-3 weeks. Once we begin your project, it has our full attention and will never take longer than absolutely necessary. We know how frustrating it can be living without a shower!

I’m unsure of the style I’m after. Can you help me pick the materials?

Of course. That’s what we do best! Once we have had our original consultation, we will take you to the showroom or sit down with you and go through our portfolio. This way, you can see the materials in the flesh, how they appear in the light and up-close and how they look in other peoples homes. Once we’ve gone through this process, we’re positive you’ll have a better grasp of the type of shower you’re after. As there are thousands of material choices out there, we can narrow down the search once we have an understanding of your budget and tastes.

What is the process of renovating my shower?

As shower renovations are smaller than total bathroom overhauls, some of these steps may not apply to your project:

Design and planning

The design and planning stage can take some time, and it depends on your particular project. Some people want to keep the current shower layout intact, while others wish to rearrange the position of the shower. Whichever way you will decide to go, we will provide you with an affordable solution based on our experience to keep your bathroom functional without blowing your budget. The design and planning stage also includes item selection for your new shower (taps, showerhead, tiles and so on). We can go to the showroom together so you can select all the required items.

Strip Out

Many of our shower renovation projects start with a complete strip out first. We have to make sure no timber studs are water damaged behind the walls. The strip out process usually takes 1-2 days.

Electrical and plumbing rough-in stage

Electricians and plumbers will begin their rough-in of the plumbing points in the new bathroom and the wiring for the electrical work.

Tilling bed installation

Tilling bed is a cement slab that has to be installed before tilling, and it has to be completely dry before waterproofing.

Sheeting bathroom walls and ceiling.

Waterproofing

As per Australian Standard 3740 – 2004. Waterproofing is the process of applying a polyurethane membrane to a floor area, 100 mm on the walls. Also, an acrylic layer goes onto shower walls. Waterproofing, as you can imagine, is one of the most critical parts of a bathroom renovation. Correctly done waterproofing ensures a tight water seal for years to come and no leaking showers!

Tilling

Proper tilling requires precise preparation. Setting out the tiles will ensure tiles are cut where they must be through the room. We usually recommend our customers to choose the “tiles to the ceiling option” as it looks great and gives your new shower that luxury look. However, it will cost you a bit extra, and it’s up to you whether to take our advice on board or not. We can show you some pictures and videos so you can decide.

Painting.

The painter will arrive to paint the required areas (ceiling, doors, trims, etc.)

Plumbing.

The plumber will install all selected items, including (new toilet suite, taps, bathtub, basin tapware, etc.)

Electrical fit off.

The electrician will install light fittings, switches, fans, LED lights and strips, etc.

Additional Accessories + Shower Screen + Mirror

At this stage, we will install all accessories you’ve selected (robe hooks, hand towel rail, etc.) plus a shower screen and a new mirror or mirror cabinet.

Cleaning

A professional cleaner will arrive to clean up your new beautiful bathroom.
